Terminus + Trade, Bristol Harbour
Bristol has traditionally been linked to maritime trade. The city flourished economically and culturally during the eighteen century thanks to the trade of goods by sea. Nowadays Bristol has developed into a creative industries hotspot where the exchange of ideas between individuals has become crucial.
At the same time, the strong link to the sea its tangible with canals penetrating the city centre. On the other hand, there is not a direct connection between street, public space and water.
The proposed site was located in the edge of a canal, offering an opportunity to create a better relationship between water and street. Using public space as a linking element between the ferry terminal and Bristol’s trade reconsolidates the city with its past, opening the door for similar future developments. This approach also offered an adaptable and dynamic place that could change its use in the future
